Candice Carpenter
Heya! My name is Candice Carpenter and I absolutely live and breath scrapbooking. I have been scrapbooking since I was 11 years old…lifelong habits start early. But, I tell you…what a wonderful, creative and empowering habit to have. Some of my favorite scrapbooking embellishments/tools include GLITTER, stamps, paint, RIBBON, gems and BUTTONS. I am a sucker for Home Companion magazine and of course…my Martha. I’d like to think my style has a bit of a vintage/retro hint along with a fresh trendy touch. I get a lot of my inspiration from current home decor and fashion trends. I get so inspired with so many ideas…there is just not enough time in the day or money in the world….but I’d sure like to give them a go! Scrapbooking for me is definitely a way of life. I recently had my first ever magazine publication in the best scrapbook magazine, BHG Scrapbooks etc., and I’m honored to be a part of the Autumn Leaves design team. My work can be seen in Foof-a-Life (May 07) and Designing with Details (June 07). I live with my AmAZiNg husband Rory and our spastic cat Tipsy. I’m so in love with my family. Life is good.

Donna Salazar
"I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and we have been together for over 20 years. We have two teenage kids. I am an artist in the truest sense of the word. I live to be creative. I paint, draw, write, scrapbook and try my hand at new things all the time. My best friend jokes that when I'm in the “artistic zone” that the house could be burning down and I wouldn't want to stop what I was doing (it’s sad but soooo true). I love mixed media art, painting murals, scrapbooking and doing anything creative." Donna was a designer for Scrapbook Lifestyle seasons 1, 2, 3 & 5, and is a published scrapbook artist. She is the Design Team leader for The Red Bee.

Janel Hutchinson
I started making beaded jewelry about four years ago when I found it difficult to purchase affordable jewelry that was suited my taste and style. I enjoy beading and teaching other people how to make beautiful jewelry. I discovered that I can make beautiful, custom-made beaded jewelry for a fraction of the cost of retail. Also, beading lets me express my creativity while doing something that I love.

Jessica Guthrie
Jessica has always been interested in scrapbooking – she just didn’t know it! From her first Fisher-Price camera (that really worked!) given to her on her 7th Christmas, to the short stories she wrote through elementary school, Jessica was putting the pieces of her scrapbooking foundation together for future use. Introduced to Creative Memories at a Yuma, Ariz., workshop in 1998, Jessica immediately jumped into the scrapbook craze with both feet. After discovering the three-dimensional embellishments that were hitting the market, Jessica branched out from her original style and began seeking out the latest products, styles and techniques. Today, Jessica scrapbooks about 10 hours a week, attending crops, conventions and workshops regularly and teaching. She loves sharing the hobby with others – and turning hobbyists into addicted enthusiasts! Jessica is an Orange County, Calif., native and is wife to U.S. Marine Rodney, mother to two boys, Will, 5 and Xan, 1, and owner to three boxer dogs, Slade, Marble and Ripley. Joan Smith
Knitting and crocheting have been my most favorite crafts to do since I was about 10 years old. I am mostly self taught challenging myself to learn more and master almost every technique that can be done. For many years I have belonged to the Knitting Guild Association which enabled me to join a guild, attend conventions and workshops and meet many other knitters and crocheters. Since 2001 I have been teaching knitting and crochet at Michaels. When the Red Bee opened I joined the Friday night knitting group. I enjoy helping others along with teaching and watching the excitement on the faces of people when it all comes together.
In my classes I can teach beginners to knit and crochet. If someone needs help with a project I am glad to give assistance. There have been ladies who had done the crafts at a younger age wanting to return to it and forgetting how to do it, therefore it is more of a refresher course at which it clicks pretty quickly. When a customer came in with a project on which they were stuck or couldn’t read the pattern, I offered help also.

Linda Nitzen
My name is Linda Nitzen. I was born and raised in Orange County, and have lived in Tustin since I was 9 years old. My husband and I have been married for 17 years, and have two wonderful boys ages 12 and 11, and a yellow Lab named Nilla. I learned to sew when I was a young girl. I really enjoy quilting and sharing the art with anyone who is interested. When all the beds, couches and walls in my house were covered with quilts, I knew it was time to make then for family members and charity. Three years ago, the elementary school my boys attended started a Quilt Club after school for fourth and fifth graders. I was delighted to be an instructor. It is my wish that the American tradition of quilt making be passed to the next generation.

Martha Murphy
"Learn a pastime for a life time"
A folk artist and needle crafter for over 50 years, Martha teaches knitting, crochet and Webkinz Outfitters workshops. She endeavors to share her enthusiasm for these art forms and the life-long benefits of engineering your own creativity as a medium for life learning. This interest has found expression in clothing and theater costume design and research, design and sale of folk and needle crafts in boutiques, in development of curricula, teaching, as well as organizing, coordinating and promoting arts and craft workshops and events for children, teens and adults. She offers basic to advanced instruction with emphasis on fun, skills and self-confidence building, sharing our ideas, successes and problem solving techniques.

Nancy Nelson
"My name is Nancy Nelson. I first learned to knit as a Blue Bird when I was either 8 or 9 years of age. I loved it. I made my first sweater when I was 16 years old for my boyfriend for his birthday. The sweater turned out beautiful and that was when I learned to create patterns and love watching the pattern unfold. I learned the only limit to a pattern was my imagination. In the 80’s I visited a yarn store with a friend and that did it. I was hooked again. My friend and I started a clothing design company making our own custom design clothes using yarn and leather. I look at knitting and crochet as wonderful medium to create art with. It is fun to make wonderful gifts for my friends, family and myself. I find teaching knitting, crochet, hairpin lace, broomstick lace and following or creating a pattern so fulfilling. I love teaching others the ability to make wonderful treasures. Join me for “Sit and Knit” every Thursday 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Let’s create fun together."
